How much does Alignerr pay? Rates by role

Alignerr advertises an average of $80 an hour and says it pays weekly. If you look at the individual roles on its site, though, the rates run from about $20 an hour to $120. Which end you land on depends almost entirely on what kind of work you qualify for.
Alignerr pay by role
These are the hourly ranges Alignerr itself listed for open roles when we checked in October 2026. They are the platform's own figures, so read them as the advertised rate, not what every contributor earns.
| Role | Category | Advertised rate |
|---|---|---|
| Image Description Specialist | General | $40-120/hr |
| Data Labeling Specialist | General | $40-120/hr |
| Prompt Writer | General | $40-120/hr |
| Sales & Revenue Operations Task Author | General | $20-50/hr |
| English Writing Generalist (Quality Review) | General | $30-40/hr |
| AI Language Expert (Italian) | Language | $25-30/hr |

Two things stand out. First, the top of the range is reserved for specialist or hard-to-fill work, and the same $40 to $120 band appears across three quite different roles, so it looks like a platform-wide ceiling rather than a rate tied to one job. Second, language and generalist review work pays in the $25 to $40 range, which is a very different proposition from the headline average.
Our own platform record lists Alignerr at $20 to $150 an hour. That is a wider band than the platform currently publishes, and we treat the upper end as occasional rather than typical.
How the weekly payment works
Alignerr says contributors are paid weekly. It does not publish the payment method or the exact cut-off day on the page we read, so check both inside your account before you start. Trustpilot reviewers who mention payment tend to describe it as quick, though one reviewer alleges unpaid work. We could not verify that single claim, but it is a reason to keep your own record of hours submitted.
Advertised rate versus real earnings
An hourly rate only turns into income when there is work to bill. Reviewers on Trustpilot repeatedly mention little available work after onboarding, and the page we read does not promise any minimum hours. So the honest way to estimate earnings is to separate the rate from the volume.
| Scenario | Hours a week | At $40/hr | At $80/hr |
|---|---|---|---|
| Light, occasional work | 5 | $200 | $400 |
| Steady side income | 10 | $400 | $800 |
| Near full-time (rare, project dependent) | 30 | $1,200 | $2,400 |
That table is simple arithmetic, not a forecast. It shows how much the hours matter: halving your hours costs you more than moving from $40 to $60 an hour gains you. If you want to see how Alignerr's numbers sit against the wider market, our AI training pay report covers the typical advertised rates across platforms we track.
What moves your rate
- Specialism. The highest bands go to scarce expertise. Pick the hardest area you can genuinely defend, because the rate scales with difficulty.
- Role type. Prompt writing and labeling roles sit in the upper band; generalist review and some language work sit lower.
- Quality. Our platform record notes that consistent quality raises your rate band over time. The platform does not publish how.
- Languages. Multilingual skills open extra tracks, though the Italian role above shows language work does not automatically pay at the top.
Taxes and fees
Alignerr's site does not say whether you are treated as a contractor or an employee. In most cases like this you would be responsible for your own tax, but that depends on your country and your contract, so confirm before you start and keep records of every payment. We are not tax advisers.
How Alignerr's pay range compares
Advertised ranges are not comparable one for one, because platforms define a role and an hour differently, but they show where each one sits. These are the ranges on our platform records:
| Platform | Advertised pay (our record) | Onboarding |
|---|---|---|
| Alignerr | $20-150/hr | 1-2 weeks |
| Mercor | $25-250/hr | 1-3 weeks (interview + assessment + trial) |
| micro1 | $20-150/hr | 1-3 days |
| DataAnnotation | $20-60/hr | 1-2 days |
| Scale AI / Outlier | $15-60/hr | 3-5 days |
| Surge AI | $16-30/task | 1-3 days |
Surge AI is quoted per task rather than per hour, so it is not directly comparable with the others.
