About the Role
Mercor is partnering with a leading AI lab to strengthen expert-level scientific reasoning in frontier models. We are hiring plasma and fusion physics experts to author and review challenging problems in plasma physics and magnetic-confinement fusion and to evaluate AI-generated solutions for correctness and rigor. What You'll Do
Design expert-level problems in plasma physics and fusion: magnetic confinement, tokamak and stellarator design, magnetohydrodynamics (MHD), and gyrokinetics
Review problems authored by peers for clarity, genuine difficulty, and ground-truth correctness
Evaluate and compare AI model outputs, delivering Accept / Revise / Reject verdicts with detailed written rationale
You're a Good Fit If You
PhD or equivalent research experience in plasma physics, fusion energy, nuclear engineering, or a related field
Hands-on experience with magnetic-confinement fusion (tokamak or stellarator), MHD, plasma transport, or gyrokinetic simulation
Strong scientific writing and meticulous attention to detail
