Did you pass the Mercor interview? Results and retakes

Short answer: Mercor does not publish a timeline, and its help page does not say you will be told you passed or failed. What it does say is that you are notified when your application moves to the next stage, and that you can keep applying to other roles while you wait. Everything below comes from Mercor's AI interview help page, read on 1 November 2026, plus what we see on live Mercor listings.
That gap between what people expect (a score, a yes or no) and what Mercor describes (a stage change) explains most of the anxious searches we see: "how do you know if you passed the Mercor interview", "does Mercor tell you if you fail", "how long does the domain expert interview take to hear back". We answer each of them here, and we mark clearly where Mercor has not said anything.
What does Mercor tell you after the interview?
The help page states that Mercor evaluates your performance for the listing, and that you are notified when your application moves to the next stage. That is the whole description of the results step. It does not mention a score, written feedback, or a pass or fail message.
In practice that means the signal is your application status. The Applications section of your dashboard shows pending steps and whether an application is "Ready to submit" or "Submitted". If a later stage opens, you are notified. If nothing changes, Mercor has not said that silence means rejection, and we will not claim it does.
- Stated by Mercor: you are notified when the application moves to the next stage.
- Stated by Mercor: your performance is evaluated for the listing.
- Not stated: whether you receive a score, feedback, or a pass or fail message.
- Not stated: how long the evaluation takes.
How long does it take to hear back?
There is no timeframe on the help page. Mercor says you can keep applying to other open roles while you wait, and that advice is the practical answer. A single interview can be reused: if another application needs the same interview, your existing result is kept, so you do not retake it.
Reuse is worth using on purpose. Our Mercor interview guide explains how to choose the roles that share one interview, so a single good attempt works for several applications at once.
How do retakes work?
Mercor lets you retake an official interview, with limits. The numbers below are the ones on the help page.
| Topic | What Mercor says |
|---|---|
| Retake limit | Up to three times across all applications linked to that interview |
| How to retake | Yourself, from the Assessments tab, by selecting Retake assessment. No need to contact support |
| Effect on your application | A retake resets your application progress |
| Who can see it | The waiting room notes that hiring managers can see your retake count |
| Practice interviews | Free, not tied to any application, no effect on future opportunities, unlimited |
The retake count being visible to hiring managers is the detail most candidates miss. Mercor's own waiting room asks you to reserve retakes for technical problems. That is a good reason to run a practice interview first, since practice attempts are free and are not shared with companies.
My interview ended early or crashed. Does it count?
An attempt that ends much earlier than planned does not count. The page shows "Interview too short" with the attempt date and a Retake now button. If you have no retakes left, it shows "No retakes left".
For crashes and freezes, Mercor's guidance is practical:
- Lost connection or frozen tab: reopen the Assessments tab and try again. If the session has ended, use Retake assessment.
- Bot not responding: wait 30 to 60 seconds, refresh and rejoin, use Chrome, check your connection, clear cache and cookies, and turn off VPNs and extensions. An Incognito window is a quick test.
- Start interview is grayed out: complete the required checks (microphone and, when needed, screenshare), allow camera and microphone access, and select Restart devices.
- Still stuck: email support@mercor.com with your operating system, browser, the interview and application names, a screenshot or recording, and whether you tried a reset.
Browser support matters here. Mercor recommends the latest Google Chrome, supports the latest Microsoft Edge and Safari, and does not support Firefox or mobile browsers. Interviews are in English unless a listing says otherwise, and when screen sharing is required, only full-screen sharing works.
Rules that can cost you the application
The help page is direct about what is allowed. You may use grammar and wording checks. You may not use large language models to write your responses, rate model outputs, generate rationales, or evaluate code. You can discuss your general experience with others, but you should not share specific questions, screenshots or confidential information.
There is also no human alternative: the AI interview is the only screening method, and chat or call formats are not currently available. That is why our preparation guide focuses on being specific about your own work rather than on rehearsed answers.
What Mercor keeps from your interview
Mercor retains recordings and an AI-generated transcript to evaluate your candidacy and to recommend your profile to potential employers. It says interviews are not used to train AI models, that it does not sell interview data, and that practice interviews are not shared with companies. You cannot download or access your own recordings or transcript, so take notes right after you finish.
Because the March 2026 breach affected recorded interview video, read the Mercor legitimacy review before you decide how much to upload. We cover that in full there.
What to do while you wait
- Keep applying. Mercor says you can apply to other open roles while one is pending.
- Check the Applications section of your dashboard rather than your email alone.
- Update your resume before you submit new applications: a submitted application cannot be edited.
- Skip roles marked "Not accepting applications". You cannot complete or submit those, even if you started earlier.
- Use free practice interviews to prepare for the next role instead of burning a retake.

The verdict
Mercor describes a stage change, not a score. Treat a new notification or a new step in your dashboard as the real signal, keep applying while you wait, and save your retakes for genuine technical problems. If you want a structured way to prepare for the next attempt, start with the practice interview and our interview guide.
